Iraqi Security Forces Operation Order No. 21, Year 2011 [Plan of Attack on Camp Ashraf, Iraq]

1.     SITUATION

a.      Enemy forces

No changes 

b.      Friendly forces

No changes 

c.       Attachments and Detachments

Assigned11th Battalion of Diyala rapid deployment force3rd Battalion of 3rd armored Brigade of Ninth Division  

2.     MISSION

5th Division along with its attachments at hour 1200 of day 4/8/2011 will occupy area of responsibility in al-Iraq al-Jadid camp forcefully and will prevent all aggressions by the enemy against friendly forces. 

3.     EXECUTION

a.      Concept of Operation

Occupation of the position will be accomplished through multi areas, that will be done by using force, and the enemy will not be allowed to make any aggression against friendly forces.  

b.      Commando Battalion of 5th Division

                            i.      Formation

Assigned                         one company from 4th Battalion of 18 Infantry BrigadeA company is detached to be assigned to 1st Battalion of 21st Infantry Brigade 

                          ii.      Mission

Occupation of the area from flowers at coordinates (638964) to the point at coordinates (648694) including this same point in order to prevent the enemy from any aggression into the area of responsibility 

c.       4th Battalion of 18th Infantry Brigade

                            i.      Formation

A company is detached and assigned to Commando Battalion of 5th Division

                          ii.      Mission

Occupation of the area from coordinates (648694) outside this point to the East Gate at coordinates (660694) in order to prevent the enemy from any aggression into the area of responsibility. 

d.      1st Mechanized Battalion of 21st Infantry Brigade

                            i.      Formation

Assigned     Commando Company from Commando Battalion of 5th DivisionDiyala 2nd RDF Company from Diyala 11th RDF Battalion Anti-riot platoonA company is detached to be assigned to 3rd Battalion of 37th Brigade of 9th DivisionA company minus one platoon is assigned to Commando Battalion of 5th DivisionA platoon will be assigned to 4th Battalion of the 18th Infantry Brigade 

                          ii.      Mission

Occupation of the area from flowers intersection outside coordinates (638694) to Ashraf memorial at coordinates (618694) to prevent the enemy from any aggression into the area of responsibility 

e.      3rd Battalion of 37th Armored Brigade of 9th Division

                            i.      Formation

Assigned       one Infantry Company from 1st Mechanized Battalion of 21st Infantry Brigade 

                          ii.      Mission

Occupation of outside locations with one infantry company and seizure of the main gate with one infantry company and prevention of enemy from any aggression into the area of responsibility 

f.        COORDINATING INSTRUCTIONS

                            i.      Withdrawal from current positions is prohibited and these positions must be defended by all means                          ii.      The residents will not be allowed to go behind the forces                        iii.      Reinforcements will be done at positions                        iv.      Emphasis on missions and maintaining alert during occupation of locations
